Dr. Riskin is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Connect Health. He completed his Bachelor of Sciences, Medical Doctorate and Family Medicine Residency at UBC as well as a two-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona. He is also certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Riskin has a long-standing passion for an integrative approach dating back to his teenage years when he worked for an organic food chain. While studying at UBC, he started the non-profit group, Alternative and Integrative Medical Society (AIMS), to help students learn about integrative medicine.
He believes in the body’s innate capacity for healing and is grateful to have the opportunity to work with patients, whether it be dealing with a particular health issue or to support them to attain optimal health.
Dr. Riskin has a keen in interest in personalized medicine and aims to provide a ‘root cause resolution’ approach. He is passionate about genetics and molecular medicine, the microbiome, healthy aging, mind-body medicine and empowering his patients to increase their resilience and lead happy, productive lives.
He also practices emergency medicine and remains passionate about working to evolve our healthcare system to be more forward and “upstream” focused.
Dr. Riskin enjoys spending time with his wife and their new daughter. He also enjoys travelling, staying active, eating nutritiously, and finding ways to enjoy each moment.
