Your Cancer Care Team

Dr. Moore, ND is the Director of Cancer Care at Connect Health.

After graduating from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2013 Dr. Moore completed a highly competitive 2-year hospital-based residency with Cancer Treatment Centers of America, in Tulsa, OK. During her 5 years working in hospital as a resident and then staff Naturopathic Physician, she collaborated with surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists and other specialists. She has supported thousands of patients through the treatment of their cancer or chronic illness, as well as post-treatment to improve recovery and restore health. Dr. Moore is well-versed in the language and protocols of conventional medicine treatments and cancer therapies and she believes that patients benefit greatly from a multidisciplinary team of medical providers.

While previously in the United States, working as an American board-certified naturopathic physician, Dr. Moore was recognized for her advanced training in naturopathic cancer care and she became a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO) in 2015. FABNO is not currently a title used in British Columbia; however, Dr. Moore has continued to maintain her status as a FABNO in the US. Now practicing in Vancouver Canada, she is registered with the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia and has certifications in prescribing authority, IV therapy and acupuncture.

Dr. Moore is a published author and avid speaker. She has served as adjunct clinical faculty at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine. She is thrilled to join the team at Connect Health and to incorporate innovative approaches such as advanced metabolic testing and treatment in cancer care, IV therapies, mistletoe therapy and more.

"If you are ready to take control of your health, I’m ready to help you assess your terrain and to identify safe evidence-supported natural medicine strategies, unique to your health needs and goals"

Mikaela Viljoen, RN, is the Registered Nurse Connect Health.

Mikaela was born and raised in Ottawa where she graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012.

Mikaela then spent the next several years honing in her nursing skills at The Ottawa Hospital where she worked primarily on the Trauma Unit. Although she loved caring for patients in the hospital, she decided to follow her passion for integrative and functional medicine by taking a position at the Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre. Over the two years she worked at the OICC, she learned many ways in which naturopathic and integrative medicine can be used to enhance both the health, as well as the quality of life of the patients. She is very skilled at IV insertions and phlebotomy, and continues to work casually at VGH as part of the IV Team to continue to develop her expertise.

In early 2020, Mikaela joined the Connect Health team as our Registered Nurse and is thrilled to work in a collaborative environment where she can put these skills to use. From leading both the IV program and our private testing department, she continues to see the impact of the integrative framework of healthcare on the lives of our patients.
