Devon completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Science and Doctorate of Medicine degrees at McMaster University, followed by Rural Family Medicine specialization. She studied with the Institute for Functional Medicine and in 2016 became a Certified Practitioner. She is also a certified Relational Somatic Therapist.
She believes trauma and adverse childhood experiences are some of the deepest roots of most individuals’ present day health problems, and compassionately aims to liberate the imprints of these experiences from patients’ physiology.
Devon has long been a practitioner of mind/body approaches, including yoga, which she first began practicing at age 17. In 2014, she completed ‘Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction’ facilitator training through the University of California San Diego and in 2015, completed training in the Netherlands to become an Interpersonal Mindfulness facilitator. Devon believes that it is through healing our paradigms of relationship that personal and collective healing emerge.
Devon’s fascination with understanding healing has led her to explore other cultures’ healing practices. She continues to broaden her skills weaving this field together with modern psychotherapy, through apprenticeship in group-process integration with Dr. Gabor Mate.
Devon enjoys helping individuals with gastrointestinal, cardiometabolic and immune dysfunction, womens’ health, anxiety and depression, and eating disorders.
