Massage therapy involves manual manipulation of soft tissues, bones and joints to support and improve systemic functions (skeletal, circulatory, immune, respiratory, lymphatic, digestive, nervous), maintain health, improve healing and treat injury. It has proven highly effective for pain management, rehabilitation, injury prevention and regular maintenance of the body.

Conditions we commonly treat: chronic and acute injuries, headaches, whiplash, postural deviations, TMJ dysfunction, tendonitis, arthritis, cancer, anxiety and depression, fibromyalgia, other common soft tissue and joint conditions.

Lisa Schneider, our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), has been trained to accurately assess and treat many conditions using massage and other manual therapies, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, rehabilitative exercise and patient education.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
CST involves the evaluation and treatment of physiological forces and structures between the cranium, which houses the brain, and the sacrum (a.k.a. tailbone), which marks the end of your spinal column.

The CranioSacral rhythm, created by the movement of cerebrospinal fluid between these two structures, is essentially the pulse of the brain and spinal cord. By evaluating this rhythm, a CST practitioner can identify restrictions in the body.

The body loves to be in motion. Every cell, tissue and organ needs to be able to move freely to function correctly. Physical injury and emotional trauma can produce adhesions and structural deformities that restrict motion. Over time, these effects spread to adjacent structures and ultimately the entire body.

The CST practitioner’s role is not to forcibly correct the body but to encourage the body to correct itself, which often leads to the disappearance of chronic symptoms. When the body’s systems are balanced, it is better able to heal itself.

CST also affects the autonomic nervous system (by virtue of its direct connection with the brain and spinal cord), improving the body’s ability to respond to stress and challenges and elevating energy levels. Patients often experience feelings of deep calm during and after treatment.

Conditions we commonly treat with CST: migraine or chronic headaches, chronic neck and back pain, motor-coordination impairments, colic, autism, central nervous system disorders, orthopedic problems, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, scoliosis, infantile disorders, learning disabilities, chronic fatigue, emotional difficulties, stress and tension-related problems, fibromyalgia, connective-tissue disorders, jaw dysfunction, immune disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, post-surgical dysfunction, digestive disorders, fertility impairments.

Visceral Manipulation
This gentle and intuitive treatment, which involves manipulation of the organs (viscera), is effective in releasing chronic restrictions. It includes a method of assessment that follows a line of tension in the body to locate the main cause of dysfunction, enabling the practitioner to determine the root problem rather than just treating symptoms.

Your body has a “normal” state. Injuries or traumas (emotional or physical) can cause restrictions, adhesions and scar tissue around the organs to protect them and prevent further injury. The body’s attempts to compensate can lead to pain, reduced range of motion and compromised organ function. Releasing these restrictions and addressing the injury of the internal structures allows the body to readjust to its normal state, reducing the strain on your organs, muscles, bones and joints.

Conditions we commonly treat with visceral manipulation: whiplash; chest or abdominal injuries and surgeries; digestive disorders like bloating and constipation, nausea and acid reflux; women’s and men’s health issues including chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids and cysts, dysmenorrhea, bladder incontinence, prostate dysfunction and menopause; emotional issues like anxiety and depression; post-traumatic stress disorder
