Do you wish you could finally feel digestive ease? Do you wish that symptoms of bloating, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, abdominal or stomach pain, or general digestive malaise would no longer plague you?

At Connect Health, we agree that it’s tough to feel energized, happy, and comfortable when your GI (gastrointestinal) system has gone awry. That’s why we’ve formed an integrative team approach to help you specifically with your digestive health woes. This is a partial list of some of the digestive issues we can address:

  • IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Celiac disease
  • Dysbiosis/SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth)
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Bloating
  • Digestive parasites
  • Diverticulitis
  • GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)/heartburn/acid reflux
  • Gallbladder issues
  • Food sensitivities
  • Malabsorption issues

We take a comprehensive natural medicine approach to address your digestive challenges.

You start with our Dr. of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Dr. Melissa Carr, who begins the intake process with numerous questions regarding your current and past personal health issues. She will offer acupuncture, herbs, nutritional supplements, TCM food cures, and biopuncture as treatment options. Dr. Carr will also hand you our Digest-Ease binder with our curated list of practical suggestions. Bring this binder to all your appointments so each of our practitioners can highlight and add to it, as needed.

Our Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Jennifer Mackenzie, will offer a comprehensive review of your current and past health history, along with a physical exam to ensure we get to the root cause of your digestive concerns. She takes a holistic approach to your treatment using nutrition, supplementation, botanical medicine, homeopathy, IV nutrient therapy, and lifestyle recommendations to help support your healing.

Massage isn’t just for tight muscles and physical injuries. Lisa Schneider, our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) also incorporates osteopathic techniques such as CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation to treat a variety of digestive issues. Manual therapy can be an effective treatment for many digestive related disorders, illnesses, injuries, and traumas (either emotional or physical) which result in dysfunction, restrictions, adhesions, and scar tissue throughout your body. Manual therapy also positively affects the central nervous system by bringing your body into the “rest and digest” state, which helps you do just that.

You’ve likely heard that the mind-body connection is powerful. The mind and body can work together in mutual support and harmony but, when out of sync, can create a cycle of stress and disease. Chew-Nyet Lee, our Hakomi therapist and counsellor, will help you tap into some of your conscious and subconscious thoughts, beliefs, and stressors that may be affecting your nervous system. Her mindfulness-based, body-centred practice can lead to a profound improvement in the health of your digestive system.

You’ll have two appointments with each of us, and at each step of the way, our team will discuss and coordinate your plan—with you and with each other. That way you won’t have to repeat your story multiple times. That way we can build on each other’s treatments. And that way you have a fully integrative approach. Dr. Carr will see you for your last appointment included in the package so she can review the team’s plan with you and discuss options and suggestions for treatments moving forward.

Additionally, since you’ve made the commitment to our complete plan for you, we have included value-added services, making this the most cost-effective way for you to benefit.
